Француженка Элизабет Револь, которой удалось выжить при восхождении на массив Нангапарбат в Гималаях, рассказала, почему она решилась бросить своего напарника из Польши Томаша Мацкевича, когда тому стало плохо.
В народе Нангапарбат называют «Горой смерти», сообщает британская телерадиокомпания BBC.
Двадцатого января Мацкевич и Револь начали восхождение на хребет Нангапарбат, высота которого составляет 8,12 тысячи метров.

Польский альпинист готовился к этому восхождению с конца 2017 года. Он проанонсировал грядущее путешествие на своем YouTube-канале.
На подходе к вершине Мацкевичу стало плохо. У него началась высотная болезнь, кроме того, мужчина ослеп. По словам напарницы поляка, у того шла кровь изо рта и носа.
У француженки также начались галлюцинации. В частности, Элизабет Револь стало казаться, что кто-то постоянно угощает ее чаем.
Чтобы отблагодарить привидившегося ей благодетеля, женщина отдала ему свои ботинки, просто бросив их в снег.
Далее Револь шла босиком.
Женщина тащила напарника вниз на своих плечах. Параллельно она отправляла сообщения спасателям. Те велели ей бросить мужчину, а самой спуститься в спасательный лагерь на высоте 6 тысяч метров.
В итоге, француженку удалось спасти. Она оказалась в больнице с обморожениями рук и ног.
Женщина рассказала, что у нее было иного выхода, кроме как оставить Томаша в горах.
В настоящий момент спасатели ищут поляка. Они опасаются, что тот может быть уже мертв.
