«Донбасс» Сергея Лозницы открыл вторую по значимости программу Каннского фестиваля «Особый взгляд».
Украинский фильм не оставил критиков равнодушными, пишет ZIK.
«Нет никаких сомнений: Лозница видит Новороссию территорией тотального абсурда, съемочной площадкой нелепого фарса, который мог бы даже показаться смешным, если бы речь не шла о реальных человеческих жизнях», – написал Алексей Тарасов.
Сайт Телекритика собрал отзывы зарубежных критиков:
«Донбасс» – это едкий портрет общества, в котором человеческие отношения деградировали до варварства, что больше напоминает позднюю античность, чем так называемый современный цивилизованный мир», – пишет о фильме Variety.
«Есть опасность, что нечеловеческую критику Лозницы сочтут навязчивой, но разве не так всегда происходит с пророками?» – спрашивает критик издания Джей Вайссберг.
Hollywood Reporter сетует на то, что фильм состоит из отдельных частей, которые не складываются в цельный нарратив.
«Это мощные кадры, но ты невольно задумываешься о том, что они были бы мощнее, если бы зрителю дали узнать этих людей поближе».
Влиятельный портал Roger Ebert пишет, что «Донбасс» – это фильм, от которого зрителю гарантированно станет не по себе.
По словам автора статьи, новый фильм Лозницы – такой же мрачный, как прошлогодняя «Кроткая».
«Донбасс» не менее пессимистичен, но на смену сюрреализму «Кроткой» пришла тяжелая ирония. […] Лозница показывает общество, которое разъедается коррупцией, вымогательством и беспределом, разделено и отдано во власть воюющих между собой бандитов».
ScreenDaily называет фильм черной комедией с впечатляющим актерским составом.
«Порой он виртуозно отражает социальный распад Донбасса, но некоторые затянутые сцены могут легко утомить шокированного зрителя», – пишет издание.
Мэтью Андерсон из The New York Times поставил фильму оценку 4/5.
