Он ездил на бронированной машине со своим позывным на ней, он, как мальчишка, радовался оружию, он носил обрезанные перчатки и бандану, у него были женщины, деньги, внимание и бешеная популярность вкупе с безнаказанностью.
Страшная, жгучая смесь! Когда человек богат всю жизнь, он не станет так искренне и по-детски кичиться машиной, одеждой и статусом. А это был звездный час Бетмана, время полной безнаказанности и абсолютной власти.
Он крышевал магазины, всем, кто был под ним, была защита, тех, кто был против, нещадно грабили. Всех под его защитой помечали наклейками «Под охраной ГБР БЕТМАН». Схема, известная с 90-х.
И это, и все вместе льстило, поднимало самооценку, играло на самолюбии, давало возможность жить и жить на широкую ногу. О таких говорят: «Сбылась мечта идиота».
И он жил, радовался, пил, любил, мечтал – быть главой города, «республики».
Его агитационными листками о том, что он честный человек, учился, женился и воспитывает в счастливом браке двоих детей, был оклеен весь город.
Он баллотировался куда-то вверх. Он успел даже это. И были лавры почестей, свита, признание и работа (а он видел это именно работой).
И сложно представить, как было бы все в его жизни дальше, потому что после этой абсолютной свободы и таких же немыслимых возможностей вряд ли бы он стал кому-то подчиняться, вести журналы, ходить на совещания и отчитываться о чем-то.
Его убрали свои. Да, убрали. Не стали менять и причесывать под систему.
Его просто взорвали – красивая смерть героя. Если, конечно, смерть бывает красивой. Но отчего-то его не стали вспоминать. Не возвели в статус местного героя. Забыли сразу же.
Уже через пару дней лезвиями срезали приклеенные намертво на двери магазинов «Охраняется ГБР БЕТМАН». Будто и не было крышевания, как в девяностые. Будто и не было его вовсе.
Стерли, взорвали, убили, забыли. Не было, не знаем, не помним такого.
Забыли сразу и совсем. И из его офиса и пыточной сделали снова студенческое общежитие. Только матрасы выставили на улицу под дождь, будто переезжал публичный дом. И срезали забор, вывезли мусор и перестали вспоминать сразу же.
Такая вот, короткая, как вспышка, жизнь местных героев. Говорят, не поделился с кем-то, перешел дорогу, многое на себя взял».
