Їх підйом почався незадовго до російсько-українського конфлікту.
За даними журналістів, Кримський казачий полк, як організація, був створений лише 15 березня 2014 року, за день до «кримського референдуму».
До його складу увійшли близько 400 осіб.
«Після «кримської весни» казаки Дьяконова вирушили воювати на Донбас.
Сам осавул (Дьяконов ) про бої на території східної України висловлювався стримано, розповідаючи про успішні бойові дії в Сніжному і на Саур-могилі (українська армія втратила вбитими понад 1000 осіб)», — йдеться в повідомленні.
Як повідомлялося, «казаки», які нападали на учасників акції російської опозиції «Він нам не цар», отримували фінансування від мерії Москви.
