Китайские военные провели успешные испытания системы противоракетной обороны наземного базирования с заатмосферными перехватчиками.

Состоявшийся запуск ракеты-перехватчика, предназначенной для поражения целей прямым попаданием, признан успешным.
Какую именно систему противоракетной обороны испытали военные, министерство обороны Китая не раскрывает.
В частности, не раскрывается, какую именно цель должен был поразить перехватчик.
Известно, что с учетом последнего запуска испытания противоракетной системы проводились четыре раза — предыдущие три, признанные успешными, проводились в 2010-м, 2013-м и 2014 году.
В настоящее время помимо Китая системами противоракетной обороны с ракетами заатмосферного перехвата обладают США, Израиль, Румыния (SM-3; в составе ЕвроПРО под контролем США) и Япония.
Такие ракеты стояли на вооружении СССР в составе системы противоракетной обороны Москвы А-135 «Амур», но были списаны; остались лишь ракеты ближнего перехвата с высотой действия до 30 километров.
Разработкой системы противоракетной обороны с ракетами заатмосферного перехвата сегодня занимается Индия.
В конце 2016 года индийские разработчики завершили испытания противоракеты AAD, однако система на вооружение пока не принята.
В 2017 году власти страны выделили 1,2 тысячи гектаров территории в штате Раджастан для противоракетных радаров и пусковых установок ракет-перехватчиков.
