Коваль вспоминает, что в январе 2012 года его вызвал тогдашний министр обороны Михаил Ежель и предложил возглавить Силы специальных операций.
«Вот тебе три дня, напиши концепцию и пару примеров спецопераций.
Я за три дня это сделал. На примере Крыма и Бессарабии я показал действия ССО. Оформили на меня представление», — сказал он.
Но до назначения на должность дело так и не дошло.
«Вызывает меня министр обороны… Не глядя в глаза, говорит: ничего не получается. Никак тебе в Москве Тузлу забыть не могут.
Я говорю: Миша, ты что, нами что, Москва рулит? 2012 год, 22 года как государство живет самостоятельно», — отметил Коваль.
По его словам, армия при Януковиче сознательно уничтожалась.
Верховный главнокомандующий ни разу не проводил штатные стратегические, стрелковые учения.
«Настроения против него в армии были очень сильные», — утверждает свидетель.
