Бывший ныряльщик тайских ВМС, участвовавший в спасательной операции, погиб из-за нехватки кислорода.
Бывший военный ныряльщик погиб, участвуя в операции по спасению 12 подростков и их футбольного тренера, заблокированных в затопленной пещере в Таиланде. Об этом сообщает служба Би-би-си.
38-летний офицер Саман Гунан доставлял попавшим в ловушку кислородные баллоны.
На обратном пути из пещеры он потерял сознание из-за нехватки собственного кислорода. Напарник Гунана попытался реанимировать его, но безуспешно. Офицера доставили в больницу, где констатировали его смерть.
Гунан ранее ушел со службы в ВМС Таиланда, однако вернулся ради операции по спасению застрявших в пещере людей. Похороны погибшего оплатит тайский король.
Смерть опытного ныряльщика вызывает опасения по поводу того, смогут ли не имеющие необходимых навыков дети выбраться из ловушки подводным путем.
Власти в свою очередь обещают принять дополнительные меры предосторожности и не рисковать безопасностью мальчиков.
23 июня 2018 года в Таиланде 12 подростков в возрасте 11-16 лет и их тренер пропали во время похода в пещерный комплекс. 2 июля их всех нашли живыми в одной из пещер.
Группа оказалась заблокирована из-за поднявшегося уровня воды в подземелье.
Спасатели разрабатывают план вызволения попавших в западню людей. Вероятно, группе придется обучиться дайвингу, чтобы покинуть пещеру подводным путем. В спасательной операции участвуют около тысячи человек.
