В селе есть электроснабжение, но до сих пор нет газа, а воду люди берут из колодцев.
Однако на слабость коммунального хозяйства местные не жалуются, потому что их гораздо больше волнует опасность военных действий.
Военные, которые выровняли линию фронта и фактически собственными спинами теперь закрывают селян, не скрывают, что война никуда не делась.
«Ну, это же война! Иногда пули прилетают», — говорит боец с позывным «Айгор». Жители и бойцы хорошо слышат, как рядом раздаются разрывы мин – то боевики настойчиво обстреливают украинские позиции в районе Новоалександровки и Троицкого.
Но несмотря на это, люди ездят на работу в соседние села, и дети бегают в школу за несколько километров, правда, это довольно опасный путь.
Местные жители сейчас главной своей заботой называют возможность свободно передвигаться. «Нестыковка работы КПВВ: открывается поздно, закрывается рано, а им, понятное дело, нужно на работу», — объясняет офицер Вячеслав Скоряк.
Люди же мечтают не только о другом графике работы блокпостов, но и о времени, когда их деток на обучение будет забирать школьный автобус.
«Детям в школу к 8:00, а они только с 10:00 пропускают! Дети другими путями ходят, но это опасно – брат мой подорвался на растяжке», — рассказала селянка Неля Заливацкая.
Люди говорят, что уже забыли, как выглядели боевики, однако надписи на прославление «русского мира» до сих пор украшают стены и заборы Катериновки.
Патриотических цветов там откровенно не хватает, но военные успокаивают, что работа идет – и как следствие, уже кое-где можно услышать украинский язык.
«Нормально, положительно, люди здороваются – это уже плюс! Люди разговаривают и на украинском, и на суржике», — убеждает «Айгор». И верит в хорошее украинское будущее этого села.
